Displaying Art and Teaching Classes/Workshops

Submission Process:

Generation Art and Frame accepts artwork by local artists for display. The gallery only accepts submissions in person at our location at 43 N. Main Street - Franklin, IN 46131. While we are happy to answer any questions emailed to us about displaying, we do not accept submissions through email.

Artists are not required to make an appointment. Submissions are encouraged Wednesday through Saturday during operating hours. Artwork accepted is displayed on a consignment basis. Artwork submitted is reviewed and considered in a timely manner.

A copy of the artist consignment agreement may be requested before submission. A consignment agreement must be completed if artwork is accepted for display.

Review and Consideration Process:

Artwork is reviewed and considered by employees of Generation Art and Frame. There are many factors that go into deciding which artwork is accepted. These include quality of the piece, size of the work, current available space to display, and likelihood of the piece selling.

Individual shows and events may have additional requirements such as a shared theme, style, etc. Generation Art and Frame reserves the right to not accept artwork and is not required to explain why work was not accepted.

Cost to Submit:

There is no cost to submit or display artwork. A consignment fee of 35% is collected if a piece sells through Generation Art and Frame.

Who can Submit:

Local, Central Indiana artists. We do not work with third parties including art dealers, an artist’s family members, or other representatives. We do not hang work owned by someone other than the artist. We do not work with artists under the age of 18.

Submitting for Shows and Events:

Turn in dates for shows are typically 2 weeks before exhibition date but please check the information for the show you are interested in for the specific details. Artists can always reach out if they are unsure of the deadline for a particular event.

Type of Artwork Accepted:

Original artwork or prints from originals are accepted including painting, photography, pastels, drawing and other fine arts. There is minimal room for 3D art and work of this nature is accepted very rarely.

How to Price Artwork:

All artists are required to set their own prices. The gallery will work with the artist to help them understand the percentage of the consignment fee on sales and create fair pricing.

Framing with Generation Art and Frame

Artwork is not required to be framed by Generation Art and Frame though there are incentives that can be offered to those artists who do choose to purchase their framing with Generation Art and Frame.

Selling Directly to the Gallery:

The gallery does not buy artwork. All artwork is on a consignment basis.

How to Teach Classes:

Generation Art and Frame is always looking for individuals interested in teaching unique and fun classes and workshops. Teachers are accepted depending on scheduling, teaching history, and quality of work. Interested individuals can reach out through email or in person for more detailed information and to find out the gallery’s current needs concerning classes.
